London-based manufacturer of polyolefin block foams Zotefoams plc has appointed Benito Sala as its new managing director Europe.
Sala was formerly plant director and managing director at PPG’s Quattordio production plant in Italy.
The role initially entails responsibility for operations, engineering, hr and supply chain throughout Europe, said Zotefoams in a release 11 April.
By late 2019, the role will also focus on “transitioning” to the commercial aspects of the Azote-branded polyolefin foams business outside North America.
The new managing director is also tasked with overseeing the Zotefoams plant currently under construction in south western Poland.
The €26m unit is set for commissioning by mid-2020 and will increase Zotefoams’ overall production capacity for Azote polyolefin foams by 20% to 300 kilotonnes per annum. (ktpa).
Sala, according to Zotefoams, has “significant industry experience and knowledge of manufacturing in global markets, particularly the automotive industry.”
“With our core Azote business growing by 8% in 2018, and future growth opportunities supported by new capacity investment in the US and Poland, we continue to create opportunities across our product portfolio,” said group CEO, David Stirling, welcoming the new manager.
Zotefoams has pursued an ambitious investment programme in Europe and North America in recent years with Poland representing its third plant. The company is also completing a €35.7m expansion at its US plant in Walton, Kentucky, adding extrusion equipment, infrastructure and two high-pressure autoclaves.
