Wittmann Battenfeld UK's managing director Barry Hill is set to retire at the beginning of next year.
Having originally joined Battenfeld UK as a service engineer and then worked his way into management, Hill was key in the integration of Wittmann and injection moulding machine manufacturer Battenfeld in 2008.
Michael Wittmann, group general manager of the Austrian machine specialist, commented: “Barry will be sorely missed within the Wittmann family. No anniversary celebration, trade exhibition or conference will be the same without him. However, we realise that we cannot hold Barry back from a very well earned retirement. Europe’s ski slopes and motorbiking highways will surely benefit from our loss!”
From January, Wittmann Battenfeld UK, which has its headquarters in Wellingborough, will be jointly run by Daniel Williams and Tracy Cadman, who will be respectively responsible for sales and finance.
“We are delighted with the Wittmann Battenfeld UK succession plan and we give Daniel and Tracy every support. The UK and Ireland markets are significant for us – not least for their manufacturing creativity and their capacity to ‘enjoy innovation’ – our current theme and slogan for K 2019 and beyond,” Wittmann added.
Speaking about the announcement, Hill said he had "every confidence" his successors.
"Dan has come up through manufacturing via the apprentice route and therefore has a solid grounding in the issues and principles of industrial life. Our customers are in very good hands," he added.
