German high-quality films manufacturer Renolit has established a new joint venture (JV) in China to further strengthen its position within the Chinese market. The company and Chinese trading partner Citiking officially registered and set up Guangdong Renolit Citiking at the end of March, Renolit said in a 3 June statement. With a total of 60 employees, Guangdong Renolit Citiking has been manufacturing 2D and 3D films for decorative surface designs on three advanced printing and embossing machines respectively, since the beginning of April. In China, Renolit’s films are also used for the manufacturing of furniture, cupboards and interior doors. “For us, China is an important market which we also want to invest in with innovative products. The Joint Venture perfectly fulfils the group’s strategic objective of creating added value where our customers and markets are,” said Michael Kundel, the chairman of Renolit. With the JV, Renolit is addressing two long-term strategic objectives: expanding decorative surface capacities in China and improving the company’s product portfolio in the country. Up until now, Renolit was supplying products for decorative surfaces from its production facility in Guangzhou. The new JV will also allow for the transfer of technology for water-based printing and paint systems as well as Supermatt und High Gloss surfaces, according to board member Karsten Jänicke. The Worms-based, family-owned company has been very active in China for many years and employs almost 1,000 people at its locations in the country.
