Custom compounder Polykemi Ystad Sweden has invested in a fully equipped new extrusion line consisting of a premium 58mm twin screw extruder from Coperion and extensive auxiliary equipment.
The company said the investment was prompted by the need to meet future demands for plastic materials for, among other things electric vehicles.
The new line is designed to provide optimum production performance, both in terms of quality and quantity. A number of high precision dosing systems have been installed, enabling usage of additives both in granular and in liquid form.
With the trend for electrification of vehicles and other products, the manufacturing industry is facing a paradigm shift, said Polykemi.
Demand for more environmentally friendly flame retardant materials will rise, as will the need for the highly reinforced compounds, which are used to achieve lighter weight products.
The new line expands the scope of Polykemi’s capacity, said development manager Anette Munch Elmér, allowing the company to produce reinforced compounds with a loading of up to 65 % and ‘ever better high-quality flame retardant plastic compounds’.
“The immense flexibility of the new product line allows us to customize our products with even higher precision than before,” she said.
