German manufacturer of extrusion and compounding lines Feddem GmbH is exhibiting its portfolio of complete systems as well its long-fibre pultrusion line this October during K2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The KD Fedderson company will highlight a range of long-fibre-reinforced thermoplastics (LFT-PT) systems from laboratory size to large-scale production, said Feddem in a statement 26 July.
The main area of expertise of the company is in twin-screw extruders for LFT-PT applications. This has now been bolstered by the addition of the company’s globally standardised ICX technology (innovative compounding and extrusion technology), developed jointly with its sister company, Akro-Plastic, in which Feddem's MTS-series extruders are matched with optimised LFT components. The concept is claimed to reduce costs and increase the price/quality ratio of the line.
In addition, as product changes become increasingly more frequent, a key factor to remain competitive is ensuing that the time needed by compounders for changeovers is kept to a minimum.
To that end, Feddem has developed compounding lines that are tailored to specific applications, as well as a number of features designed to keep the number of changes required as low as possible.
At K, Feddem will be displaying the FED 26 MTS 32 L/D twin-screw extruder with a pre-assembled 10 L/D extension unit that can extend the extruder to 42 L/D.
This enables the compounder to convert the processing length of the extruder within a few hours to adapt to mixing processes that require a longer or shorter processing section, respectively.
Additionally, offering a kneading block-free screws along with Feddem mixing elements (FME), the company claims to extend the range of applications of a given screw configuration, consequently reducing the need for frequent screw changes.
