Extruded plastic sheet and roll manufacturer epsotech Group has announced the development of a new R72 engineered polymer sheet, specifically targeted at the aerospace sector.

The Group is headquartered in Jülich, Germany, and has 8 production facilities across Europe. The new modified PVC sheet R72, developed at its UK plant, is a lightweight, tough, and flame-retardant sheet material designed for thermoforming aircraft seating applications. Available in an extensive range of colours and finishes R72 meets the stringent flame resistance requirements, including the low smoke and heat release criteria, of the JAR25.853 (d) specification (ex HCl).  While epsotech UK, which has a strong history within the aerospace sector, already supplied a sheet product called R57 to this a market, the new R72 sheet has been engineered to meet the more demanding (d) specification, rather than the (a) specification with which the R57 sheet complied.

Complying with the higher specification will now allow the company to serve the aircraft market in a more comprehensive manner, said Greg Shaw, managing director of epsotech UK Ltd.

“We are looking forward to further engaging in long-standing partnerships and delivering on new opportunities.”
