Japanese plastics processor Sekisui Chemical Co. Ltd. has set up a European headquarters in Roermond, the Netherlands, in a bid to consolidate its 18 subsidiaries in the region.

The new structure, including the establishment of Sekisui Europe BV, will have an “internal partnership-oriented” approach and will simplify communication, the Osaka-based plastics company announced 26 Feb.

Globally, Sekisui has three operations of high-performance plastics, urban infrastructure & environmental products, and housing.

In Europe, the company offers products for industrial applications, with focus on transportation, construction & infrastructure, electronics and medical diagnostics.

The move to open a European HQ, said Sekisui, will open up a new global business structure for the company to extend growth and visibility outside the Japanese borders.

Sekisui is claimed to be the first injection moulding company in Japan and the first company to develop PVC pipes in the country.
