Packaging machinery manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) has appointed Dr. Falco Paepenmüller to fill the company’s newly created position of CTO. Paepenmuller, who will be responsible for W&H's Extrusion, Printing and Converting business units, will assume his new role on 1 April, the company announced in a 14 Feb statement.

As CTO, Paepenmüller, will join W&H’s management board, which also includes chairman and CEO Dr. Jürgen Vutz and chief sales and service officer Peter Steinbeck.

According to Vutz, the addition of a chief technology officer emphasises W&H’s focus on innovation. "With faster innovation cycles and more connected processes, a separate management board position has become more important for the expansion of technology leadership,” he said, commenting on the appointment. Paepenmüller has held various management positions at W&H since 2007 and is currently the head of the company’s extrusion business unit.

The company is also looking to fill the position of chief financial officer, which has been vacant since the beginning of the year with the departure of Theodor Determann.

Dr. Torsten Schmitz, currently responsible for the cast film division, will succeed Paepenmüller as the head of extrusion on 1 April.
