Danish plastics processor Letbæk Plast A/S has set up a production subsidiary business in western Poland which will mould shells for designer furniture.
Letbek Sp. z.o.o., recently established in Komorniki village near the city of Poznań, is scheduled to injection mould seat shells intended for a range of designer chairs in the second quarter of this year.
This project was initiated by Tistrup, Denmark-based Letbæk Plast to enable the firm to take advantage of new business at the heart of Poland which is Europe's furniture design centre, according to its chief executive officer Michael Bayer Thomsen.
The Polish operation is expected to employ an eventual workforce of around 50, according to the Danish parent company.
Meanwhile, Letbæk Plast, based in Tistrup on Denmark's Jutland peninsula, is expanding its production capacity in Denmark.
It has announced it will take over Plast-Profilen, a small neighbouring plastic profiles extruder 25kms north on the Jutland peninsula. With just seven employees, Lønborg-based Plast-Profilen of Lønborg will strengthen Letbæk Plast's production of small technical plastic profiles, said Thomsen.
