The Parma, Italy-based Sidel Group has merged its two packaging machinery units of Sidel and Gebo Cermex, effective 1 Jan.

The two units now run under a unified team titled Sidel, the company announced 31 Jan.

Sidel Group created Gebo Cermex in 2013 with the combination of its Cermex and Gebo business units, which offered end-of-line equipment and conveying systems respectively.

Post-merger, company products will carry the official brand of Sidel, while in specific cases Cermex or Gebo prefixes will be added to products, a company spokeswoman told Plastics News Europe.

“For instance, the AQFlex machinery will carry the brand Sidel but will bear the Gebo-AQFlex marking to show the powerful brand history,” she pointed out.

Grouped together, the two business units offer a wide range of machinery for primary packaging, secondary packaging as well as line equipment.

Sidel Group is part of the Swedish Tetra Laval group, which also owns leading packaging firm Tetra Pak.
