Austrian machinery supplier SML Maschinen GmbH will be delivering the first cast stretch film production line to Sigma Stretch Film of Asia, a Sigma Plastics Group’s joint venture in Thailand.

The joint venture, which was launched between Sigma and Thailand’s King Pac in August last year, will be based near Bangkok, with the facility spanning over 100,000 square feet.

In a statement on 22 Jan, SML said it expected to deliver the first production line to Thailand by the fourth quarter of 2019, with production set for “shortly after”. At full production, the facility will have a capacity of approximately 45 million pounds of stretch film per year.

Sigma Plastics, is the world’s largest stretch film manufacturer with an output of over 2 billion pounds of resin. King Pac Industries, with an overall capacity of 220 million pounds, is the largest industrial bag manufacturer in Asia and is looking to expand into the cast stretch film market.
