Quadpack develops “high-end” tube from 100% recycled plastic

Spanish high-end beauty packaging firm Quadpack has developed a new tube made entirely from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.

The tube is designed for applications such as face care or eye contour products, packaging of spot treatment products and cosmeceuticals and is available in two versions.

The smaller tube has a 16mm diameter and a capacity of 5-15ml, making it suitable for high-value treatments, samples or gifts with purchase. The tube features a metal roller ball for the application of the formula onto the skin.

The larger tube has a 19mm diameter with a standard neck and a capacity of 5-20ml.

For more aggressive bulks, such as those containing alcohol or citric ingredients, Quadpack said it can add an inner layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH), with barrier properties that protect the formula against oxidation or product migration. Special anti-UV properties can also be incorporated for UV sensitive formulas.

Quadpack said it has a “host of techniques” to address the yellow tinge produced by the recycling process. The PCR Tube
