United Caps CEO Benoît Henckes marks record company output in Hungary

Packaging caps specialist United Caps reached a significant milestone last week as its plant in Hungary produced the company’s 10 billionth closure this year.

Located in Dunavarsány south of Budapest, the plant specialises in manufacturing caps and closures for edible oils and beverages for the markets of Eastern Europe.

The 10 billionth product to come off the line was the firm’s innovative ‘Doubleflow’ closure for edible oils with a shaped pouring spout, according to United Caps.

The company, based at Wiltz, Luxembourg, celebrated the landmark with a gathering of group management and customers at the Hungarian plant. The facility is in the process of installing an additional production closures line to meet growing demand.

Group chief executive officer Benoît Henckes expressed pride at the achievement which highlighted the faith put in the firm by the market. “It’s a sign of reliability , a badge of honour,” Henckes declared.

“We don’t set out every year to make the most closures. But this year, we are proud that 10 billion times, we’ve set out and succeeded in making the best closures,” he added.

United’s Hungarian operation serves a number of leading edible oil brands in the region, including Wielkopolski oils from Princes Group, a fast growing food and drinks supplier.

United Caps operates manufacturing units in Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg and Spain as well as in Hungary. With a 500-strong workforce, the firm recorded net annual sales last year amounting to €137m.
