Automation and robotic solutions supplier Fanuc Corp. has unveiled a slimline range extension to its compact, general purpose robot series, making it ideal for smaller work spaces and top-mount applications.

The M10iD/10L is the latest model from Fanuc’s M-10 robot series and comes with a long arm to provide an extended reach of up to 1636mm, with a maximum payload of up to 10kg.

With a footprint of 343m x 343mm, the new range is suited to compact production line installations and is articulated to reach narrow spaces in machine tools or jigs.

Like other models in the M-10 series, the slimline range has a hollow arm, wrist and body to facilitate routing of internal cables and reduce any interference with peripheral devices and work cell equipment.

The 6-axis robot has one of the highest axes speed in its class, with a maximum speed of 720°/sec, and a repeatability of ±0.03mm.

In this model, Fanuc is employing its zero down-time monitoring software – which predicts status of mechanical and process equipment – enabling it to facilitate intelligent maintenance schedules.

“We feel the latest addition to our general-purpose robot portfolio is perfectly placed to capture those looking to take their first step towards integrated manufacturing,” said Andrew Armstrong, sales & marketing manager for Fanuc UK.

The model, said Armstrong, offers “excellent reach from a compact footprint” and high payload, while contributing to automation of factories.

The new model, which has been released corporation-wide, is now available across Europe, the company has confirmed to Plastics News Europe.
