The expansion project is expected to complete by March 2019.

Wittmann Battenfeld France SAS, the French subsidiary of machinery supplier Wittmann Group, is expanding its production plant in Moirans, in response to growing demand.

The company said it had acquired a land in the immediate vicinity of its existing site in Moirans, to add 5,000 square metre of usable floor space.

The company is investing a total of €5m in the expansion project, which it expects to complete by March 2019.

Ground breaking for the site, which will serve as the new French headquarters, will take place at the end of June, the company has said.

According to Wittmann, the French subsidiary witnessed its “most successful year” in 2017, with sales up 14% compared to the previous year.

Growth in order volume has also been significant, prompting the expansion plan.

All product segments saw growth last year, but substantial increases were noted in the sales of granulators, robots and automation systems, with a corresponding increase in market shares in France, Wittmann said.

Wittmann Battenfeld France has been active in the market since 2002, when the French company Albora was acquired by Wittmann.
