German parts supplier ContiTech AG is planning to expand its automotive surfaces activities in China, according to a spokeswoman.
The undisclosed investment will be made in ContiTech’s Benecke-Hornschuch Surface Group business unit.
“[The investment is] about environment friendly, low-emission and non-allergenic automotive interior surface materials which is requested by the Chinese automotive market,” said the Antje Lewe, head of external communications at ContiTech.
According to Lewe, the German automotive supplier is planning to expand “local production capacity” in order to deliver solutions faster to its customers in that region.
However, she noted that the company had no “concrete timing” for the investment at this moment.
Based in Hanover, Benecke-Kaliko AG is a ContiTech unit that develops and manufactures technical and decorative surface materials made of plastics.
