Spanish energy group Repsol SA has started the production of high impact copolymers (TPOs), as part of its polypropylene portfolio.
Marketed under the brand Repsol ImpacO, the material is the first of its kind being produced within the Iberian Peninsula, a Repsol statement said 8 Feb.
These new materials, both in their neat PP form or as base polymer for high impact compounds, are aimed at the automotive market, as well as technical parts manufacturers and compounders.
The Madrid-based company said the launch of the product will offer “a new alternative supplier” to customers within the automotive sector and OEMs.
Repsol added that it is currently working on expanding the range with high-impact grades at low temperatures, mostly for automotive interior use.
“This new range will be used for interior parts, such as cars’ door panels or dashboards, as well as, other everyday objects such as shopping trolleys, suitcases or child restraints systems for cars and bicycles,” the company added.
