As a packaging specialist, Constantia Flexibles is mainly to be found at the forefront of new developments.  At PlastIndia, one of India’s largest trade fairs and which will take place this year from February 7 to 12, 2018, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the company is showcasing, among other things, its latest interactive packaging.

According to Alexander Baumgartner, CEO of Constantia Flexibles, packaging today provides more than just protection; it also serves to attract the attention and the interest of consumers. Interactive packaging is also a way to strengthen counterfeit protection, which is especially important for the pharma industries.

The company has therefore developed Constantia Interactive, which provides “a packaging feature that is an important marketing tool, one that meets the needs of the end customer and supplies additional information in a simple way,” he explained.

Digitization encourages interactivity between brand and consumer. Constantia Interactive opens a multitude of digital communications and marketing opportunities by turning the packaging itself into a communication channel. It offers a combination of digitally readable packaging material with a digital platform for data management and a customisable smartphone app. The possibilities range from purely informative features, such as instructions for use, to videos, games, and even contests that can be individually selected by the customer. Companies and brands can personalise the look and feel of the application for a complete brand experience.

“Constantia Interactive is an efficient, personalized marketing tool to ‘wow’ the customer,” said Baumgartner.

At the show, Constantia will also be highlighting the important the company attaches to sustainability.  “Our target is to protect environmental sustainability through producing laminates which do not contain aluminium foil but are made from mono polymer family. Those laminates can be easily recycled and fit in a circular economy”, said Baumgartner.
