Contitech, the German materials, compounding and industrial products manufacturer, is planning to create up to 300 new jobs at its production site in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.

Over the past years and a half, the company, part of the Continental technology group, has invested €20m there through capacity expansion and technology development.

In an ongoing programme, Contitech has completed facilities include a second rubber mixing line, a new semi-finished product unit using calendar technology and a production line for hoses destined for heating and cooling applications in cars.

In addition, the firm constructed a warehouse for its compounding centre and is currently completing a logistics centre for air springs and hose lines.

Completed facilities were recently officially commissioned at the plant which has so far created 200 more jobs taking the workforce total to 500 employees, according to Contitech.

Hose production has already started, with capacity expected to double by the end of this year. A shared 4,500m2 warehouse for hoses and air bellows is due for completion by this Spring.

The company said its expansion project has already benefited from Hungarian government support to the tune of more than €6m. “Over the next two to three years we expect to create another 250 to 300 new jobs once all the lines reach full capacity,” predicted László Jókay, managing director at the Nyíregyháza plant.

Investment at the site, one of three locations operated in Hungary by Contitech and employing 5,000, is to continue to meet increasing demand for the firm’s products there.
