Nitrite-free film for anti corrosion packaging

Corrosion inhibitors in the film vapourise to protect the metal contents

US-based corrosion-control company Cortec has introduced a film to guard against corrosion of packaged metal parts that does away with traditional oils and desiccants. The non-toxic EcoShield VpCI-226 film is non-toxic and recyclable as it does not contain nitrites, phosphates or halogen-based materials.

Vapour phase corrosion inhibitors (VpCIs) in the film vapourise and condense on the metal surfaces to be protected by the packaging. The company claims that metal parts packaged in EcoShield VpCI-226 film or bags can be protected from rust, tarnish, stains, white rust and oxidation for up to five years.

The heat-sealable film comes in standard or customisable forms including sheeting-reinforced film, Ziploc and Auto-Bags, gusted liners, perforated sheeting, coil covers, shrink film or tubing. And the film can be used to protect aluminium, galvanised steel, carbon steel, silicon steel, stainless steel, silver, copper, solder and brass.
