Huanlejia, a Chinese producer of food and beverages, recently started marketing its coconut milk – formerly packaged in HDPE – in PET bottles.

Consumer demand for healthy and functional hydration solutions has caused demand for coconut and other plant waters to soar over the past two years. With a view to enhancing both brand image and overall customer experience, the company decided to shift to aseptic PET packaging for its coconut milk product.

PET is strong, unbreakable, light, transparent, safe, and 100% recyclable. The new PET bottle ensures a 12-month shelf life, with no sterilised aluminium foil needed before capping, due to the tight closure between the neck of the bottle and the cap. It is produced on two Sidel complete aseptic PET packaging lines, running at 48,000 bottles per hour (bph).

The new coconut milk PET bottle has been well-received by local consumers and has already won a star product award from the 2018 Chengdu Food and Drinks Fair.
