Queen bans single-use plastic in new waste plans

Queen Elizabeth II has reportedly banned plastic straws and bottles from the UK royal estates as part of Buckingham Palace's new waste plans.

The Daily Telegraph reported 11 Feb that the Queen became “personally interested” in the plastic waste issue after working with naturalist broadcaster Sir David Attenborough on a wildlife documentary.

The new measures, according to the Daily Telegraph report, include “gradually phasing out plastic straws in public cafes and banning them altogether in staff dining rooms.”

China plates and glasses or recyclable paper cups will be used by internal caterers at royal estates.
