The Netherlands Packaging Centre, NVC, has marked new trends within the industry which include augmented reality, virtual reality and interactivity.

During an official event titled 'NVC night at the Planetarium', in Amsterdam 30 Nov, The NVC said the technological trends were “rapidly advancing” in the packaging world as a result of consumer behaviour.

According to the Dutch centre, as smart-phone apps continue to influence consumer behaviour, packaged product design is exploring new dimensions.

“Even the remotest packaging equipment can now be supervised with help of VR by the central, highly qualified and 24/7 operational service and maintenance department,” the NVC heard during the event.

The evening was concluded with a kick-off presentation of packaging innovation contest De Gouden Noot 2018, the registration for which will close 1 May 2018.

The Award Ceremony will take place on 22 Nov 2018  at the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam.
