Senoplast plant dominates Piesendorf village, Austria

European specialist plastic sheet and film extruder Senoplast Klepsch & Co. has begun work on a €6.1m expansion project at its base plant in Piesendorf, Austria.

Following a groundbreaking ceremony in late September, the company is constructing a new 3,600m2 production complex with two hall sections. Construction of the extension is due to be completed by April next year.

Senoplast is due to begin installing new production lines along with a cleanroom facility when the work is finished. The plant is set to focus on turning out co-extruded film and sheet products for thermoforming, it stated.

“The expansion does not only mean that our company is growing, it also brings about growth for the entire region,” stated Senoplast’s chief executive Günter Klepsch at the foundation laying ceremony.

“We are building for the future and creating valuable local jobs,” Klepsch told company guests and customers at the plant inauguration.

Sheet and film products from the Austrian processor are used in the automotive, travel baggage and bathroom and healthcare fittings sectors along with applications in refrigerator and furniture production.

Senoplast range of semi-finished products are formed using various polymers and composites including ABS, polycarbonate, poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA), acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) and polystyrene.

Apart from the firm’s main plant, located in the picturesque Austrian alpine village of Piesendorf, Senoplast runs a film and sheet facility at Santa Rosa Jáuregui, Queretaro in central Mexico. This unit serves the regional markets of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Today, Senoplast run by the Klepsch family since its foundation in 1956, has an overall workforce of 615 of which 475 are employed in Austria. Its plants there and in Mexico have an annual capacity of around 50,000tpa. Company turnover last year reached €190m.
