UK plastic box retailer Alison Handling expects to double its turnover to £10m (€11.1m) within the next two years with the acquisition of GW Containers & Equipment, a specialist in plastic fish boxes and insulated containers.
The Kirkham-based Alison Handling said it registered revenues of £5.3m last year, with clients including Tesco, Nestle, House of Fraser and Procter & Gamble.
The company said it would further its growth plans through the acquisition of Staffordshire-based GW Containers & Equipment and securing the exclusive UK distribution rights to “an Icelandic insulated packing box which is popular within the fishing and food industries.”
Internally, the company has also invested in upgrading its systems and processes, as well as improving customer service, next day deliveries, electronic delivery tracking, sales, marketing and digital output.
According to managing director Glenn Broomfield new job opportunities will also be created and “further acquisitions” are planned to deliver growth targets.
“This is an exciting time for Alison Handling. During the last 12 months we have made significant investments, launching a number of new initiatives which will help us improve sales and ensure we’re ready to handle the extra demand,” Broomfield added.
Established in 1988, Alison Handling is a key player in the storage solutions sector with one of the UK’s largest ranges of plastic storage solutions.
