Amiblu expects technological advances to help it grow in international markets including Asia, Latin America and Africa

Wietersdorfer subsidiary Hobas and Amiantit Europe (including Flowtite Technology) have completed the merger of their European businesses, following the approval of European Competition Authorities (ECA).

The two companies which specialise in Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipes have combined forces to form a joint venture company, Amiblu, headquartered in Klagenfurt, Austria, Hobas said in a statement 1 Sept.

Parent companies, Carinthia-based WIG Wietersdorfer Holding GmbH and Saudi Arabia’s Amiantit Co SAAC, signed an? agreement over a 50:50 ownership structure in December last year.

GRP pipes provide sustainable solutions across infrastructure and industrial applications such as drinking water, irrigation, wastewater, hydropower or industrial plant systems.

According to the two companies, Ambilu will ensure the continuity and growth of the Hobas and Flowtite brands.

Amiantit managing director Nick Crofts will be the CEO of Amiblu and Hobas MD Claus Brun will serve as the CCO International.

“We can offer solutions to wastage, pollution, disruption and inefficiency of pipeline systems today whilst saving capital and operating costs”, said Crofts.

According to Brun, Amiblu expects its technological advances to help it grow in international markets, for instance in Asia, Latin America and Africa.

“We have high growth ambitions and are looking forward to taking on the competition with other technical solutions around the world,“  he added.
