Safe, snappy PCTO breastfeeding system puts a new spin on the bottle

Singapore-based Hegen Pte. Ltd. has come up with a new twist on the baby bottle. The company has developed a Press-to-Close, Twist-to- Open PCTO stackable, square-shaped baby bottle design – the world’s first patented no screw thread closure. The bottle is made  from Solvay’s polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) material, a safe and durable option compared toconventional polymers or glass, said the company.

Hegen’s PCTO design eliminates the conventional screw top neck, enabling bottle lids to be easily pressed on and twisted off with zero spillage. The company has applied that same design to a manual breast pump, allowing mothers to ‘Express-Store-Feed’ with a single container. The baby bottle converts from a storage container to a feeding bottle, avoiding the need to transfer breastmilk from one container to another.

Shatter-proof PPSU is a naturally amber-coloured, transparent polymer that resists stains, does not absorb odours and is free of artificial pigments, phthalates or Bisphenol A (BPA).

Bottles made from PPSU  perform reliably at temperatures between -20°C and 180°C (-4°F and 356°F), making them dishwasher-safe and resistant to more than 1,000 sterilization cycles without affecting toughness or impact strength.

The material complies with food-contact regulations established by U.S., European and Chinese government agencies, and its inherently non-stick surface ensures that all the bottle’s breastmilk is passed on to infants during feeding.
