Amcor Flexibles has started a series of investments in healthcare printing in Europe, the Australian company has announced.
The initial investment was made in two “state-of-the-art” printing presses to serve the healthcare markets in the UK, Switzerland and Germany.
The company did not disclose the investment size and details.
“A UV Flexo press will be installed at Amcor Flexibles Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, and a digital press at Amcor Flexibles Cramlington, UK, both of which are expected to be in operation in 2017,” Amcor said on 30 March.
Luca Zerbini, Vice President, Marketing, R&D and Sustainability, in Amcor’s Flexibles division in Europe, said the investments was not just for capacity expansion and aimed to reinforce the company’s position within the European health market.
The move to digital printing, said Amcor, is “a critical enabler” to meet market changes and “growing requirements towards personalised medicines.”
The new investments, said Amcor, show the company’s “long-term term commitment to develop their European pharmaceutical printing capabilities.”
Further investments are planned in the future, Amcor added.
