Czech packaging group Petainer is investing €2.5m in expanding its plant in Lidk"ping, Sweden, with new Husky equipment.

The company is looking to lower energy consumption while increasing capacity. Once the expansion work is completed, the plant will be able to produce more than one billion finished products per year, spokesperson Philip Sanner told European Plastics News.

The Husky injection equipment will “modernise the plant and optimise long-term sustainability”, he added.

The PET packaging firm chose to expand in Sweden because it is one of the company’s core markets.

According to Sanner, the company is not currently looking at expanding any of its other plants but it is hoping to expand its sales reach across Russia.
